Although I am not required to, I thought that I would let you know that my webhost provides me with reports and statistics and a bunch of other nifty things about visitors to the site. Some of the things I can see are where on the Net you came to Scam Alert from, how long you stayed on the site, what pages you visited, your IP address, and so on and so on. Now I really haven't had the time to do anything with this information nor have I even really bothered to look at such stuff closely. Nevertheless, I thought that I would let you know, in case you already didn't, so that if you really care you could take whatever steps you feel are appropriate to protect your privacy. As always, your personal information whether in reports such as the ones available to me or email that you send to me is kept private and not disclosed to any third-party. Also I will never sell or disclose the information contained in these reports that are available to me to any third-party (unless pursuant to a lawful court order with appropriate jurisdiction or under penalty of severe pain).
Keep to the facts as known by you personally. Tell your own experience and not what you have heard, what has been told to you or that you have read elsewhere. By keeping to this simple principle you will help provide accurate information for the benefit of all. To File a Report Click Here otherwise email The Author to reports (at)scamalert.freeservers.com. Don't forget to email any photos you may have. Also, indicate whether the person or Agency you are reporting is a "known" or "confirmed" scammer or whether at this point you merely have suspicions.
Unlike some other anti-scam sites and contrary to popular belief, I do not merely issue a Scam Alert or reprint information or reports provided to me. I actually do try and make a judgement call. Of course if the person reported is well known or it is obvious from the evidence provided that scamming is occurring then I may need to do little follow-up. But usually I need to do a little more. So in an effort to ensure that only accurate and truthful information is presented I will reasonably try to perform the following due diligence in conjunction with posting a public Scam Alert:Contacting the Person Reporting I may contact the person reporting with follow-up questions or to obtain omitted information in order to fully understand the nature and underlying circumstances of the report. All personal contact information of persons reporting scammer activities is kept strictly confidential.Contacting the Individual(s) Reported Whenever possible I will make an effort to contact the individual(s) reported in order to obtain "their side of the story" and to allow the person(s) with the opportunity to provide any explanatory or additional information relevant and necessary to provide me with a complete understanding of the nature and circumstances of the report.Contacting the Agency Whenever possible or applicable I will make an effort to contact the Agency involved in order to obtain "their side of the story" or any explanatory or additional information relevant and necessary to provide me with a complete understanding of the nature and circumstances of the report.
