For some time now I have been deeply concerned about the trafficking of women for sex that is going on around the world. It may be true that a tiny minority of the women involved are willing participants, however the evidence clearly shows that many more are victims and very often deceived into being trapped into this situation. The beautiful women of the CIS countries and Eurasia are especially vulnerable to this exploitation. To read more on the subject, visit HumanTrafficking.org, also Angel Coalition (concentrates on Trafficking from CIS). If you have any information about human trafficking, the identities of the men or groups behind this or wish to make an anonymous tip, you may send them to The Author at reports(at)scamalert.freeservers.com and I will forward such information to the appropriate law enforcement authorities OR Better Yet Provide Your Tip or Information Directly to Any of These Authorities or Organizations:

Angel Coalition
The Angel Coalition is an especially helpful and useful organization. It now offers international and national toll free helplines for both victims and persons wishing to make a confidential report about human trafficking. It also has a listing of numerous links and many useful publications can be downloaded. This NGO is doing a lot of good work and it is very worthy of your financial support. Your Help May Be the Difference!
The following is not a rant against prostitution, nor am I, The Author, expecting the "world's oldest profession" to simply evaporate. Whatever ills prostitution may bring, The Author, personally believes that what occurs between consenting adults should be legal and not the business of the government. However, this issue of sexual exploitation and human trafficking is a very different situation and what must be realized is that the woman may not be a consenting and willing partner. The fact is that while efforts by governmental authorities and non-government organizations such as the Angel Coalition are making headway against this problem, due to the very nature of this situation, the persons most able to make a genuine difference are the men who are involved with soliciting and obtaining the sexual services provided by the trafficked girls and the human traffickers. Therefore what I am going to ask of some of you may be no less than extraordinary. Should YOU EVER be in the situation where you are using the services of a sex provider or are visiting a house of prostitution, PLEASE do the following in your initial "small-talk" with the girl:Ask her about her hometown and family back home If her response is otherwise normal, that is fine. But if she seems sad about the question, or says that she would love to return home but can't or anything like that, then take a moment to discreetly probe into the situation just a bit. BE CAREFUL TO HAVE THIS CONVERSATION AS CASUALLY AS POSSIBLE AND AS PRIVATELY AS POSSIBLE BUT ASSUME THAT SOMEONE IS LISTENING ANYWAY. DO NOT ASK HER POINT-BLANK WHETHER SHE IS BEING KEPT AGAINST HER WILL OR MADE TO DO THIS WORK Listen to your gut instincts about this situation. If you have even the slightest sense that something is wrong, you should make some excuse and get away from there as quickly as possible. NEXT, please make a tip, anonymously if you have to, to the local and national law enforcement, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE -- giving them the location and any names of individuals. Hopefully, law enforcement and immigration authorities can check out the situation and verify that all ladies, including the particular woman, have their valid credentials, passports, etc. If any do not, they will likely be escorted away and thus, if they are being kept there by force or threats, they will have the chance to come forward and get help. Again I realize this is an extraordinary proposition and plea to you. And again, this is not to say anything critical about prostitution itself or what consenting adults may contract between themselves. Yet, I am sure, that if it turns out that you did find yourself, unknowingly helping to perpetuate this terrible nightmare of forced prostitution, that you would want to do your part to help fight the situation. And you can! But it will take some courage on your part and a willingness to help those who may be the most helpless. Thank you, The Author
